Manchester United raise bid for Mbemo, hope to sign him soon
Manchester United have upped their offer for Brentford striker Brian Mbemo, according to ESPN.
Previously, United first made an offer of around £55 million, which was rejected by Brentford. Now, a new offer of over £60 million has been made by the Red Devils, showing that they are keen to sign the player.
United are hoping to complete the deal before the transfer window closes as manager Ruben Amorim is looking to strengthen his team’s attacking capabilities before the start of the new season.
Apart from Mbemo, United are also set to sign another striker – Mateusz Cunha. They have reportedly activated the release clause in the Brazilian player’s contract at Wolves to the tune of £62.5m.Cunha will officially join United after the national team tournament.

Mbemo shone in the Premier League last season scoring 20 goals. This made him a target for many clubs, including Newcastle United. However, there are reports that he has agreed to join Manchester United and Brentford have allowed him to negotiate with interested teams.
The reason why United have been so aggressive in bringing in a new striker is because of their lackluster performance on the attacking end last season.Several existing strikers, such as Hoylund and Gancho, could both leave the team in the summer.
Signing Mbemo is just the first step and United will have to evaluate other attackers next. The trio of Rashford, Sancho and Anthony are all set to return to Old Trafford from their loan spells, but all of them know that they may not be an important part of the team anymore.
Overall, United’s focus this summer is to boost their attacking firepower. They hope to make the team more competitive in the new season by bringing in an efficient goal scorer like Mbemo.
