Manchester United planning to sell Anthony, Betis may not be able to afford it
Recent news has suggested that Manchester United are considering selling Brazilian winger Anthony. They are hoping to find a club willing to make a bid this summer, rather than continuing to loan him out.
Anthony hasn’t been doing too well for United and hasn’t played a single Premier League start in the entire first half of the season. In January, he was loaned out to Spanish side Real Betis. When he first went there, people were not too optimistic that he could find his form.
However, after arriving at Betis, things changed.Manager Pellegrini gave him a chance and he took it.In 26 games, he scored 9 goals and dished out 5 assists. His performances helped Betis finish sixth in La Liga and also reach the final of an important cup competition (the English FA League Cup).

Now, Anthony’s loan deal is over. He’s back at Manchester United, but the way forward is unclear. The new manager, Amorim, hasn’t made it clear whether he will keep him or not.
Anthony recently posted a message on social media platforms expressing his feelings towards Betis. He said, “I want to thank for one of the best times of my life. From the first time I came here, I felt different, like I was coming home, like I had found a part of myself that I had lost.Being here has put a smile back on my face.”
He added: “Thank you for treating me like family and for making me feel happy playing soccer again. And thank you for reminding me why I love soccer. This is my home, my family, and I really appreciate you all.”
At the end of May, Betis lost the cup final to Chelsea. At the time, Anthony said that he was very attached to Betis, but ultimately it was up to Manchester United to decide his future.
According to British media reports, because Anthony is doing well at Betis, there may be other clubs coming in with offers.Currently Betis is still communicating with Manchester United to see if they can sign him, but the problem is that the price offered by Manchester United is a bit high, and Betis may not be able to get that much money for a while.
Although we can not completely rule out the possibility of Anthony to stay in Manchester United, but from the current situation, Manchester United is more inclined to sell people, rather than to rent him out again. This is because they want to sell players for some money which they can then use to bring in new players. For example, Brentford’s Mbemo is one of the targets they are focusing on.
Apart from Betis, there are quite a few other teams that are also interested in Anthony, such as Atletico Madrid, Real Sociedad, and Juventus from Italy. It seems likely that Anthony will leave United this summer to start a new career.
