McTominay is proving Manchester United wrong in their decision, says Andy Robertson
Andy Robertson, a member of the Scotland national team and Liverpool player, recently spoke about his teammate Scott McTominay in an interview.He said that after McTominay left Manchester United, he has been trying to show everyone with his performances that United made a mistake by letting him go.
It happened in the summer of 2024.Back then, United manager Erik Ten Hag actually wanted to keep McTominay, but the club ultimately decided to sell him to Italian side Napoli for a transfer fee of £26 million.In hindsight, that decision may have been a bit regrettable for United.
Because after joining Napoli, McTominay’s performance was very eye-catching.He scored 12 goals in the Serie A and helped his team win the long overdue league title.He also won the honor of “Player of the Season”.It can be said that he has played a new peak of his career in Italy.
This is not the first time that a former Manchester United player has done well after leaving the club.That’s why many people are starting to question whether United’s transfer operations in the past few years are problematic.

And, before going to Napoli, McTominay was already a key player for the Scotland national team.Now, his performances have reached new heights.
Meanwhile, Manchester United are not having a good season.They finished 15th in the Premier League and lost to Tottenham Hotspur in the UEFA Cup final, a disappointing result.
In light of these comparisons, McTominay’s departure may have really made United realize that sometimes, a player just needs a change of scenery to play at a completely different level.
