Okay so yesterday I was planning my weekend football watch schedule and saw Liverpool facing Bayer Leverkusen. Wanted the fresh lineup news especially about injuries. Grabbed my coffee and laptop around 7 AM thinking this’ll be quick.
Starting the hunt
First went straight to my usual football news sites. Scrolled through three different ones – all just repeating “Liverpool has injury concerns” but no damn names. Annoying as hell. Like why bother writing if you don’t say who’s actually out?
Checked Twitter next. Big mistake. Saw twenty different “ITK” accounts all contradicting each other. One guy swears Salah’s fit, another says he’s done for the season. Total clown show. Blocked three accounts shouting random nonsense.
Finally hitting paydirt
Remembered the club’s official app around noon. Opened Liverpool FC’s channel – bam! Right there in the match preview: “Confirmed absentees: Alisson Becker (hamstring), Trent Alexander-Arnold (knee), Diogo Jota (knee)”. Felt stupid for not checking there first.
Did the same for Leverkusen. Their website was tougher – all in German. Used browser translate and found Wirtz and Palacios listed as “spielunfähig” which Google said means unfit to play. Took screenshots for my notes.
Putting it together
Jotted down the concrete stuff:
- Liverpool definitely out: Alisson, Trent, Jota
- Liverpool maybe: Salah (doubtful), Szoboszlai (late fitness test)
- Leverkusen out: Wirtz, Palacios
Cross-checked with two reporters I actually trust. One mentioned Curtis Jones probably starting and Leverkusen’s Frimpong carrying knock but playing. Added those as “likely” notes.
Why this took forever
Honestly clubs make this harder than necessary. Why not just tweet the damn unavailable list? Instead we get:
- “Medical team assessing” (means probably out)
- “Late decision” (means probably out)
- “Slight discomfort” (means definitely out)
Wasted three hours total when it should’ve taken twenty minutes. But hey, got my watchlist sorted. Coffee’s gone cold though.
