Alright so I wanted to catch the Valencia vs Real Madrid stats last night because my buddy bet me dinner on who’d dominate possession. Figured I’d track it properly like I always do with big matches.
Getting Started
First fired up my laptop around 7PM just before kickoff. Grabbed a beer and opened three browser tabs:
- The official league standings page
- A stats tracker site I always use
- The live broadcast (could only find one working stream)
Tracking The Messy Part
See here’s where things went sideways. The stat tracker kept freezing around 28th minute when Valencia scored that surprise goal. Panicked ’cause my beer was sweating all over the notebook. Did the old trick:
- Refreshed like crazy
- Logged out and back in
- Finally switched to mobile app version
By halftime still couldn’t see the dang shot accuracy numbers. Annoying but kept scribbling notes on paper like a dinosaur.
Putting It Together
After the final whistle hit three sites at once comparing numbers. Made a messy spreadsheet showing:
- Real’s 62% possession (ha! free dinner for me)
- Valencia’s wild 14 fouls
- Courtois made more saves than I expected
Took screenshots but the damn timestamps didn’t match across sites. Ended up cropping and labeling them manually on my phone like a chump.
My Takeaways
Honestly? Never trusting those tracker sites again during big games. Whole thing took me 4 hours start to finish when it should’ve been 90 minutes. But at least now I’ve got:
- Handwritten first-half notes
- Screenshots with time markers
- Spreadsheet showing how the stats shifted after each goal
Kinda proud of my janky system but next time maybe I’ll just watch the damn game.
