I wanted to know how many times Liverpool beat Newcastle United. Started with a simple Google search yesterday. Typed “Liverpool vs Newcastle all matches history” into the search bar. Scrolled past ads and news articles. Clicked the first stats site that looked legit.
Saw a big table with numbers for wins, losses, draws. But damn, couldn’t tell if it included Carabao Cup or just Premier League. Had to hunt around for filters – finally found tiny toggle buttons under the table. Selected “all competitions” and “all time”.
Total disaster when page reloaded! Numbers didn’t change at first. Realized I forgot to uncheck “league only”. Fixed that. Refreshed. Still looked sketchy – last season’s 4-2 win was missing. Cursed under my breath and tried a different website.
Second attempt: Used soccer database site I bookmarked last year. Found direct head-to-head section. Scanned through seasons manually like a caveman – 2023, 2022, kept going back to 1990s. Eyes glazed over around 1997. Almost gave up.
Then remembered date filters exist. Set timeline from 1892 to today. Boom! There it was. Took screenshot of the final tally:
- Liverpool wins: 91
- Draws: 43
- Newcastle wins: 49
Double-checked latest Premier League game. Yep, April 2024 win included. Still felt unsure so compared both sites’ numbers. Close enough – slight differences from FA Cup matches in the 50s that some sites exclude.
Ended up cross-referencing with an app on my phone. Total overkill. Numbers matched. Wiped sweat off forehead. Took longer than baking bread. But now I know – Liverpool dominates Newcastle big time.
