Man, this popped up in a football group chat yesterday – someone screaming about final rankings for the 2013/2014 Premier League season. Memory’s fuzzy, right? Couldn’t just pull names outta thin air. Wanted the real deal, official stuff.
The Annoying First Try
Grabbed the laptop first thing. Thought “premierleague dot com” – their official site must have it archived somewhere. Hit the site feeling confident. Instant confusion. Tried finding a search bar, nothing. Scrolled down to the footer looking for an “Archives” or “Past Seasons” link like most sites have. Found something called “History” under the Stats menu. Clicked it, expecting a simple dropdown list of seasons. Total letdown. Saw Hall of Fame stats, tons of player records, even “Years & Years” videos – everything but the straightforward league tables I wanted. Felt like navigating a maze blindfolded. Scrolled through pages for a solid five minutes, got nowhere fast. Closed the tab. Utter fail.
Google to the Rescue (Kinda)
Pulled up good old Google next. Typed in “Barclays Premier League final table 2013 2014”. Plenty of links showed up, felt better already. Clicked on what looked like a legit news site link on the first page. Page loaded… cool… saw a headline about the season… then scrolled down. Massive “Page Not Found” error blinking at me. Dead link. Clicked another promising result – this time it was just stats for the current season! Got super annoyed now. Threw in “wiki” at the end of the search string. Bam! The Wikipedia page popped right up. Finally felt like progress. Knew it wouldn’t be primary source official, but reliable enough for the final positions everyone was asking about.
Found what I needed fast:
- Clicked into the “2013–14 Premier League” page
- Went straight to the final table section – plain as day.
- Double-checked the teams and points felt right for that dramatic season.
The facepalm moment: Literally took searching with “wiki” added to get there quick. Why does the official site bury the past so deep? Google saved the day once more. Got the info, shared it back in the group, mission done.
