Grealish misses out on Club World Cup squad, may leave Manchester City
Recent reports suggest that England midfielder Jack Grealish has not been selected for Manchester City’s Club World Cup squad. This is seen as the first step towards his departure from the club in the summer.
In the final round of the Premier League, Manchester City beat Fulham 2-0 to secure a place in next season’s Champions League. After the match, head coach Pep Guardiola said in an interview that if Grealish wants more playing time, he may need to leave Manchester City.
According to insiders, Manchester City has allowed Grealish to contact other clubs to discuss a possible transfer. At the same time, the team has also decided not to include him in the squad for the Club World Cup in the United States.
Manchester City will leave for Florida next week for a training camp. They will play their first match of the Club World Cup on June 18 against Wydad AC from Morocco.

Grealish joined Manchester City from Aston Villa in 2021 in a transfer that broke the British record for a player. He now has two years left on his contract. He helped Manchester City win three important titles in the 2022-2023 season and was an important member of the team at the time.
However, in the past two seasons, Gareth’s position in the team has been unstable. He often has to compete with his teammates for a starting spot and is frequently substituted during matches. In the recent match against Fulham, he did not even make the squad.
When asked by reporters why Gareth was not selected, Guardiola said, “It was just my choice.
Over the past month and a half, there have been some players who haven’t been registered. I chose other players for this game, and there was no particular reason.“
He added: ”Jack is a very good player, but he needs to play every three days. But he hasn’t done that this season or last season. He needs to play, whether it’s here or somewhere else. That’s between Jack, his agent, and the club.”
Overall, while Grealish remains with Manchester City for now, various signs suggest he is likely to leave the club this summer in search of new opportunities.
