Okay so today I wanted to dig into how Barcelona did recently against Celta Vigo. Figured checking their last five clashes would be interesting. Seemed simple enough, right? Spoiler: It never is.
First thing I did was grab my laptop. Opened up my usual browser, you know the one. Typed something like “Barcelona vs Celta last 5 games” into the search bar. Hit enter.
Man, the flood of links that came back was crazy. Tons of sites promising stats. Clicked the first one that looked decent. Boom, ads popping up everywhere. Annoying. Found a results section, but it only showed the latest score. Needed more history. Closed that tab.
Went back to the search results. Tried another one. This one looked fancier. Navigated to the “Head-to-Head” section they had. Scrolled down… and down. Finally saw a list of matches! Problem? It showed like the last ten years. Way too much info. My eyes glazed over. Control+F’d for “202” to find recent ones. Found maybe two games? Frustrating.
Switched tactics. Thought maybe specific club sites might be better. Went hunting for official La Liga stats. Found one. Spent ages clicking through menus – “Standings”, “Teams”, “Fixtures”. Finally found a filter for “Previous Meetings”. Selected Barcelona and Celta. Jackpot? Not quite. It listed recent games, but just the scores. Wanted details! Goalscorers? Possession stats? Shots? Nothing here.
Sighed pretty loud at this point. My coffee was cold already. Decided I needed a dedicated stats site. Remembered one I used once for player data. Searched for that name. Found it. Navigated to their football section, then La Liga, then “Matches”. Filtered for Barcelona. Scrolled through their recent fixtures looking for Celta games. Found the last five!
Started writing things down manually.
- Opened my text editor. Made a list.
- Checked the date for each game.
- Noted the competition – mainly La Liga.
- Recorded the final score carefully.
- Looked for goalscorers and assist names listed underneath.
- Scanned for key numbers: shots on/off target, possession, corners, fouls. Copied those.
- Even saw the starting lineups sometimes.
Got through all five games this way. Took way longer than I expected. Typed it all up clearly in my document. Highlighted the wins, draws, losses. Looked for patterns – like who scores first, any red cards, high scoring games? Barcelona dominated most of them, honestly.
And that’s how it went down. Started thinking it’d be a two-minute job. Ended up falling down the internet rabbit hole, battling stupid ads and messy websites for the better part of an hour. But hey, I got the last five games logged and broke down the stats myself. Feels good, even if it was a pain. Next time maybe I’ll just write down the scores as the season goes! Lesson learned, the hard way as usual.
