Premier League Predictions

Alright so yesterday I wanted to figure out how Liverpool usually plays against Leicester. Sounds simple, right? Yeah, not exactly.

The Frustrating Start

First off, I fired up my laptop thinking I’d just grab some ready-made stats online. Easy peasy. Typed in “Liverpool vs Leicester stats” and boom – a million links. But half of them wanted me to sign up for crap, the other half had outdated tables or weird formats. Total mess. I swear, finding reliable numbers felt like searching for my keys in the dark. Clicked through like ten sites, got nowhere useful. Just ads and pop-ups yelling at me.

The Spreadsheet Shuffle

Fine, I thought. Do it yourself. Opened a fresh spreadsheet. Had tabs for Premier League results against Leicester from the past, like, five seasons. Needed more coffee for this. Started copying dates, scores, venues – home, away, wherever. Copy, paste, copy, paste. Fingers cramping already. Then came the goal stats: who scored, when, assists… my tables started looking like alphabet soup.

Realized midway I needed more than just final scores. Who had the ball more? Who committed more fouls? Searched again, found some decent site finally – not perfect, but usable. Spent ages dragging numbers into my spreadsheet cells. Manually. All those shots, fouls, yellow cards… felt endless. Typed “Leicester City” wrong like three times. Nearly threw the laptop.

The “Aha!” Moment (Kinda)

After an hour – yeah, it took that long – things started taking shape. Scrolled through my own messy data and saw it: Liverpool usually dominates possession against Leicester, especially at Anfield. Like 65-70% sometimes. Didn’t always mean they won, though! Leicester kept sneaking goals on counters. Annoying pattern.

Then noticed Liverpool got way more yellow cards in these matches. Weird, right? Felt like digging deeper. Found out Leicester often sat back, Liverpool pushed high, got caught out, scrambled back, fouled… bam, yellow card. Happened over and over. My tables finally showed it plain as day.

Wrapping Up the Bloody Thing

Ended up with this massive, ugly spreadsheet nobody else would understand. But I knew what it said. Liverpool mostly controls the game but Leicester somehow makes it scrappy and messy. Wins feel harder than they should be. All those hours copying numbers? Confirmed what I kinda suspected watching the matches. Stats backed up the feeling. Would I do this again? Maybe. But next time I’m making a pot of coffee first. And checking spellings. Damn spreadsheets.
