So yesterday I got this itch to dig into Barcelona versus Real Valladolid match history. Don’t ask me why – just felt like wasting my Saturday, you know? Figured it couldn’t be that hard. Famous last words.
The Stupid Google Rabbit Hole
First thing I did? Googled “FC Barcelona vs Real Valladolid head to head”. Big mistake. Got buried under a ton of useless junk. Old news articles screaming about Messi goals, sketchy betting sites, and those annoying sites demanding you sign up just to see basic stuff like, I dunno, who actually won? Totally messed up. Clicked through maybe fifteen tabs before my eyes started crossing. Why is finding simple football stats like pulling teeth?
Drowning in Data Chaos
Finally found a couple kinda legit sports sites. Hit “View All Matches” expecting a nice, clean list. Nope. Page scrolled forever, loading slower than my grandma’s internet. Dates jumping all over the place – 2023, then suddenly 1998, then back to 2020. Total mess. Had to:
- Manually copy-paste dates into a Notepad file like a caveman.
- Constantly check team names because sometimes it said “Barça”, sometimes “Barcelona”. Seriously?
- Hunt down the actual score for each game, which often involved clicking again because the main list only showed, like, “W” or “L”. Who won? How many goals? Not important, apparently.
Took me two hours just to get maybe 50 matches sorted. Felt my soul leaving my body.
The Spreadsheet Shuffle
Looked at my messy Notepad scribbles and knew I needed something better. Opened Excel – felt way too fancy for this. Made some columns:
- Date
- Competition (La Liga, Copa del Rey…)
- Venue (Home/Away – another thing missing half the time!)
- Score (Finally! For the love of…) & Result
Pasted everything in. Wrong order. Of course it was. Spent another half hour dragging rows up and down to make it chronological. Excel kept crashing. Almost threw my laptop out the window. Saved that sucker every three seconds, sweating bullets.
Why Bother? And The Ugly Truth
Finished the stupid spreadsheet. Got up to around 60-70 matches, I think? Exhausted. Looked at it. Barcelona wins most, yeah yeah, obvious. Valladolid snagged some wins, usually at home. Felt kinda pointless now.
Big lesson? Football stats online are a massive pain in the neck. Nobody makes it easy. Sites look fancy but are built by goblins, I swear. Finding complete info? Forget it. Had to glue this timeline together myself like some kinda digital duct tape master. Looks rough, probably missing stuff, but it’s mine.
Woke up today thinking “Why didn’t I just watch TV instead?”. But hey, at least next time someone asks me about Barça vs Valladolid, I can shove this messy spreadsheet at them and say “There. Suffer like I did.”
