This morning I felt like digging into some football stats before the weekend matches. Wanted a quick peek at how Manchester City and Everton usually play against each other. Grabbed my coffee, opened the browser, and started hunting for stats like I always do.
First Step: Finding Reliable Numbers
Went straight to this football stats site I bookmarked ages ago. Typed “Man City Everton head to head” real slow ’cause my keyboard’s acting up today. Had to refresh twice when the page froze – man I hate when that happens. Finally saw their last five match-ups pop up:
- Last meeting ended 3-1 for City
- Three games before that? All City wins too
- Everton’s last win was like two years ago
Spotting Patterns in Attack
Scrolled down to check goals and chances created. Total domination from City here – no surprise really. Highlighted the key stats in my notes:
- City averages 18 shots per game against Everton
- Everton barely gets 5 shots on target
- Haaland’s scored in every meeting since he joined
Felt bad for Everton fans seeing these numbers. Their defense always gets ripped apart at Etihad Stadium.
The Possession Problem
My biggest takeaway was possession stats. Keep seeing the same pattern year after year:
- City hogging 70%+ possession every time
- Everton parking the bus hoping for counters
- Usually ends with Everton defenders collapsing late in games
Remember texting my mate Dave about this last season. He supports Everton and always says “this time it’ll be different”. Then City score three past ’em. Every single time.
Why I Always Check H2H Stats
Wrapped up by scribbling predictions in my notebook. Based on these stats? Probably another routine City win unless Everton pulls off some miracle. Worth it though – now I’ll sound smart when the match kicks off!
