So yesterday I got this random idea to make my own Spurs jersey. No idea why, just saw some game highlights on YouTube and figured hey maybe I could make one myself. Grabbed my laptop and started hunting around.
First Step: Finding Tools
Wanted something simple. Not fancy design software cause I ain’t no graphic designer. Found this site where you can kinda drag and drop stuff. Clicked around. Mostly free templates. Big plus. Saw the Spurs logo right there so I grabbed it.
Messing With The Design
Started slapping things around like:
- Dragged the Spurs logo onto what looked like shoulder placement
- Chose ugly neon yellow text cause why not?
- Tried adding my last name on the back – CAPSLOCK ON obviously
- Picked blue sleeves hoping it’d look like away kit
Looked like garbage honestly. Colors fought each other like cats and dogs. Realized templates are tricky little beasts.
The Big Screw Up
Thought I nailed it. Hit “download mockup”. When it popped up… MY EYES! Logo was stretched weirdly, name was off-center, sleeve colors looked radioactive. Felt like throwing laptop. Instead, smashed the undo button like it owed me money. Went back to dragging things slowly this time.
Making It Sorta Work
Scrapped everything. Started over:
- Used boring white jersey background (safe choice)
- Put logo smaller and front-center
- Normal black text this time
- Added tiny sponsor on the chest for “real” feel
Mockup looked… acceptable? Not perfect but recognizable as Spurs gear. Good enough for me.
Final Move
Clicked save option. Filled out name/number stuff. Preview showed a jersey that wouldn’t win awards but felt MINE. Smiled when payment page popped up. Thought about it for 0.5 seconds then slammed “place order”.
Now waiting for mailman to deliver what’s definitely gonna be an imperfect masterpiece. My main takeaway? Design stuff looks easier than it is but messing up is half the fun. Just expect weird color explosions.
